The Way

Our current state of homelessness has left me in quite the funk. Don't worry. I'm going to make it. Just saying it's a bit of a struggle some days. But I do think I managed to freak Karin out the other night when I had a mini-meltdown. It was just a bunch of heavy duty crying on my part. Anyway, it's become her mission to drag me out of the funk.

It's also been rainy, rainy, rainy since we arrived here two and a half weeks ago. Like torrential downpours that come and go all day long. Every. Single. Day. But miraculously, we had no rain today! Zero rain. And the angels sang! And Karin came up to me and said "get dressed, cool and comfy, we're going somewhere....it's a surprise!". Okay, I know how to follow orders. Especially when there's a surprise involved. Instant grins.    :)

I'm going to tell the story of our outing in pictures and song lyrics.....kinda. It helps if you know the song. But even if you don't, this is mostly a picture book kinda story anyway. I just happen to really love this song and the tragic news story it's based on. Our story is NOT tragic though. But I still love the lyrics combined with our pictures. It doesn't have to make sense. I don't make sense. QUIT TAKING THINGS SO SERIOUSLY!!!  Okay?     :)

The Way

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day

An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?

They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say

And when the car broke down they started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Anyone could see the road that they walk on is paved in gold And it's always summer, they'll never get cold

They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They wont make it home
But they really don't care

They wanted the highway
They're happy there today, today

The children woke up
And they couldn't find 'em
They left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off and left it all behind 'em
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Anyone could see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer, they'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray

You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They wont make it home
But they really don't care

They wanted the highway They're happy there today, today

Where did we go you ask? We went to Withlacoochee State Forest which is a short drive from Brooksville, Florida. And we made it home just fine!

Here's a cute little frog to bid you farewell.

Oh and if you don't know the song "The Way", here's a video link to a live, acoustic version . It's my favorite song to sing at karaoke. Enjoy!   :)
